Your Commitment
Your faith commitment and gifts are always kept in the complete confidence. A financial commitment to Broomfield UMC is not a legally binding contract. We ask that you give us an estimate so we can plan for our future. God tells us in Psalm 100:5, "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through al generations." If your financial situation changes, you may increase or decrease your giving levels.
Broomfield United Methodist Church has been known in the city of Broomfield as a community church for the last 136 years. Since 1888, Methodists in Broomfield have created space for people to gather for worship, celebrate marriages, grieve losses, support the community, and grow as disciples of Jesus. From picking-up neighborhood children for Sunday school in the mid-1900s, to joining other churches to start what is currently known as Broomfield FISH, to providing safe parking for over 70 of our unhoused friends in Broomfield, our church has a long history of living and loving like Jesus – no strings attached.
History
Broomfield UMC is blessed to have been planted on the corner of 10th and Daphne for the past 60 years. Having undergone two additions and multiple renovations, our church has faithfully responded to the growing needs within the church, our community, and around the world. Our 44,000 square foot facility is home for many community groups such as English as a Second Language, Alcoholics Anonymous, community choirs, Boy Scouts, sports teams, and more. Through our church the congregation has been instrumental in growing ministries such as Broomfield FISH, A Precious Child, Hope House Colorado, Joyful Journeys, and the Safe Parking Initiative. Many generations of families call Broomfield UMC their church home. During the many years at our current facility, we have experienced decline and growth. Post pandemic, we made difficult changes that birthed a stronger, more deeply connected, and vibrant congregation.
Future Plans
We have identified immediate, prioritized needs to be addressed. After years of deferred maintenance, and yeomen’s work by our facilities team and Trustees to make ongoing repairs, Broomfield UMC is at a critical juncture in the life cycle of our building and campus. To ensure the integrity of our building continues to be a vessel for God’s love and grace for at least the next seven years, we are embarking on a 3-year capital campaign that will allow our church to remain planted in this community by providing fruitful and impactful ministry for many years to come. As the church continues to grow, we know there will be future initiatives to continue our mission.
Your Impact
Your thoughtful and prayerful investment in our $1.2 million campaign will allow us to focus on the following projects:
Addressing Safety Needs: $592,500 - We have identified immediate and prioritized needs of deferred maintenance as well as safety improvements.
Replace the roof in the Family Life Center (FLC) and education wings, replace sanctuary and chapel carpets, enhance building security, including a new secure entrance by the Chapel, repave the parking lots, sidewalk repair, replace the FLC and kitchen floors, and restore stained glass in the Fellowship Hall.
Investing in Creation Care: $300,000 - Updating systems to create better efficiencies with less impact on our environment.
Install more solar panels for energy independence, replace windows throughout the church, replace swamp cooler, xeriscape by the south parking lot, and matching funds for energy grants.
Ensuring Inclusion: $120,000 - Upgrading our church to be a more accessible environment for everyone.
Chancel ramp in the sanctuary for easier accessibility, upgrade the Sanctuary sound board, and create a basement egress.
Dedication to Mission Efforts: $174,000 - Updating and creating modern, welcoming spaces for fellowship, education, partner ministries and investing in affordable housing throughout the Broomfield community.
Create an eating area for safe parking guests, renovate the FLC bathrooms to better support safe parkers, mission groups, and local sports teams, install a new exterior sign, establish a covered area for events on the West lawn, and partner with affordable housing initiatives throughout the Broomfield community.
Projects will only be initiated and completed after funds are raised for each. Like those who have gone before us, you have an opportunity to invest in the ways Broomfield UMC continues to pour love into our community and our world. We were made for such a time as this and your generous support will help us become who God is calling us to be.
Costs for projects are approximate values. Bids will be requested closer to the actual work beginning.
