Ministry Assistant – Broomfield UMC (Broomfield, CO)

Broomfield United Methodist Church has an immediate opening for a Ministry Assistant to directly support the associate pastor, ministry teams and administration. This position is part-time, 25-29 hours per week M-F, with some night and weekend hours expected for events. Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check. A college degree is preferred and 3+ years of administrative office experience required. Advanced MS Office skills, spreadsheet and database experience, attention to detail, a positive attitude and excellent customer service are required. 

This position provides administrative support in all areas of ministry as directed by the Director of Business Administration or directly by the Associate Pastor and Director of Family Ministries. 

The Ministry Assistant will provide the following:

Facility Use:

  • Coordinate and schedule all uses of the facility using Logos software and relay highly detailed information to the facilities staff regarding set-up and/take-down needs for all events.
  • Negotiate facilities use fees, Invoice and track fees due and received.
  • Assist with security codes, automatic door scheduling, and accurate record keeping.
  • Coordinate scheduling of weddings, ensuring the bride and groom provide a wedding coordinator or hire the church coordinator for oversight of wedding day activities.
  • Work with the facilities team to manage the facility schedule and needs for all events.

Small Groups:

  • Support the associate pastor and Small Group Ministry with correspondence and communication, scheduling, record keeping, lending library, Global Leadership Summit partnership, attend Heart to Heart Group meetings and take minutes.
  • Assist Stephen Ministries with the mailing/record keeping of grief booklets mailed four times per year for each grieving family in need.

Family Ministries:

·         Create, maintain and assist the congregation and general public with planning center registration website for major events including VBS, summer and Christmas Musicals.

·         Maintain accurate records and spreadsheets as needed.

·         Order all supplies for major events and help make copies, nametags, etc. as needed.


  • Field and disseminate inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as a welcoming resource for all areas of ministry, staff, members and visitors within the Church.
  • Track and order kitchen and special event supplies.
  • Serve as contact and liaison for Congregational Care Team and Special Events Volunteer Group.
  • Assist in all major BUMC events including Christmas, Easter, Backyard Bash, Trick or Trunk and any other events such as UMW Rocky Mountain Conference and Work as Worship Retreat Teleconference (Feb. 2018).
  • Serve as backup to receptionist during lunch hours or as needed and to Executive Ministry Assistant for funeral/memorial planning.
  • Ship all return packages to UPS which includes accurate measurements and weights for proper postage fees.
  • Open the office by 8:00am each business day to ensure personal contact as well as phone support during business hours.

Family Ministries Program Coordinator


Broomfield United Methodist Church (BUMC) has an opening for a qualified part-time (20 hours per week) Family Ministries Program Coordinator, who will assist with programming and discipleship under the Family Ministry umbrella – ministering to children through 5th grade and their families. This position also teams with the Director of Family Ministries and Early Childhood Assistant to provide excellent hospitality to all children and families on Sunday mornings and at ministry events. 


Responsibilities Include:

Ministry - Work within strengths alongside Director of Family Ministries in creating, planning, overseeing and executing all children’s programming, including special, weekly and monthly events. Also share in development, selection, and planning of curriculum for all children through 5th grade.

Staff and Volunteers - Work in partnership with Director of Family Ministries to recruit, train and oversee volunteers for all programs.

Program Support – Provide creative and artistic assistance for programming. Assist with preparations needed for all age children, including shopping for supplies as needed and prepping weekly lessons for volunteers.



Detailed knowledge of church processes and procedures and the various religious observations of the Methodist faith. A welcoming spirit and desire to invest in children and their faith journey through bible lessons and activities. Proven experience as a volunteer supervisor and ability to work as a team leader and team member. Warm and engaging personality when interfacing with parents, children, childcare staff and small group leaders. Preferred valid CPR, First Aid and Medicine Administration certifications. Availability to work Sundays, Easter and Christmas Eve.

Organist/Collaborative Pianist

Broomfield United Methodist Church is looking for an Organist/Collaborative Pianist. This position is a part-time (10-12 hrs.) salaried position that will collaborate with the Associate Director of Worship Arts and the ministry team to craft meaningful worship experience and high-quality worship music. Primary duties include both organ and piano to lead service music and congregational singing.


Job Description:

  • Position requires 10-12 hours per week, including services, rehearsals, practice and preparation (four Sundays off per year)
  • Organ/piano duties for two Sunday services (8:00 & 11:05am) year round
  • Collaborative Pianist for choir(s) including Wednesday rehearsals (6:30-9:30pm) and Sunday morning warm-ups and services late-August through early-June including holiday services in which the choir(s) participate
  • Organ/piano duties for all additional holiday/Feast Day services including Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and an annual Christmas Cantata (early December)
  • Collaborative Pianist duties also include coordinating and leading rehearsal times (Wednesday evenings & Sunday mornings between services) with solo/chamber groups that participate in the traditional worship services
  • Weekly coordination/communication with the Associate Director of Worship Arts
  • Opportunities for organ/piano duties at weddings and funerals for additional remuneration above and beyond position's annual salary
